Our Approach

How Orbistra structures its programmes

All three Orbistra programmes are designed around the same principle: the participant should be able to calculate the cost in time and money before committing. Contact hours are counted and published. Weekly preparation time is estimated honestly. The scope of each programme — and what sits outside it — is stated explicitly in the description rather than left to be discovered through enquiry.

The three programmes sit at different depths. The short course demands three weeks and sixteen contact hours. The strategy programme runs twenty weeks part-time at roughly nine hours per week. The institutional engagement spans twelve months and is structured around curriculum design, train-the-trainer delivery and co-delivered cohorts. Each depth is suited to a different situation; the descriptions below are written to help you identify which one fits yours.

Inner Ring · Short Course

Negotiation Practice Short Course

3 weeks · 16 contact hours · RM 630 · Cohort max 16

A three-week course built around repeated practice rather than lecture-based theory. Covers preparation and information gathering before entering a room, setting a walk-away position, managing concessions in sequence, handling multi-issue trades, working within an internal mandate and writing agreements so both sides read them the same way afterwards.

Sessions run as paired and group exercises with recorded debriefs. Each participant negotiates at least six scenarios across the course. Assessment is participation-based against a published rubric plus one written preparation document. Cohorts are capped at sixteen so every participant is observed. Includes exercise materials, preparation templates and a recorded debrief set accessible for three months.

What is covered:

  • Preparation and information gathering before negotiations
  • Setting and maintaining walk-away positions
  • Concession sequencing and multi-issue trades
  • Working within an internal mandate
  • Writing agreements both parties read consistently

Entry expectation

No formal requirement. Participants should have professional experience to draw on during exercises. Not suited to those with no professional context.
